I'll be and X-man someday
Name: Phillip Noah Sandhurst
Code Name: Cinder
Status: Teacher/X-Man
Age/ D.O.B : 26 / May 4th
Gender: Male
Powers: Phillip has the ability to transform himself into inky black smoke and ashes. He can turn into his smoke form and his solid form at will. His smoke form is resistant to various types of damage, mostly physical. He can theoretically go inside of someone's lungs and suffocate them or use his abilities as a smokescreen for cover to attack. Because he can mentally retract his smoke particles, any damage to someone's eyes or lungs caused by having inhaled the smoke is cured when he reconstitutes himself. Since he can control the smoke, he can control who is affected by it... unless someone decides to breathe it in and he isn't paying attention.
Disabilities: When in his normal form, he is vulnerable to all types of attack. While in smoke form, he is weak against water, which causes him to turn into an oily puddle and wind, which blows him away. Since his body turns into smoke, if some of that smoke is captured and divided from him, it can cause serious pain when he reverts - a few particles isn't enough but capturing some of his smoke in a jar or something like that is the pain equivalent of a gash in the leg. When unconscious he immediately reverts back to his human form. Probably the worst thing about his powers is that his clothes don't turn into smoke with him, with the exception of his X-Man suit. Regular clothes will just fall off of him when he transforms into smoke and can be quite embarrassing when he has to get his clothes back and get dressed.
Physical Description: Phillip cuts a somewhat striking figure. He has sandy blonde hair and clear olive skin and is usually lightly tanned either from surfing or from biking. From the outside, Phillip can look a bit scary. He has a biker look going for him, standing about 5'11" and somewhat muscular. He seems to have a "cool guy" air to him with the jeans and the boots and the jacket but then people see the ducky key chain or see his ducky pajamas and think twice. He has a few scars as well, though they are mainly on his legs from biking accidents.
Personality: Phillip has a gruff demeanor and a no nonsense kind of attitude which makes him a stiff and almost feared teacher. His pessimistic attitude and him being the voice of reason in most situations really makes him the Debbie Downer of the group. If one can get past that, he's a decent guy and always willing to help but usually in the "I told you so" kind of way rather than volunteering out of the goodness of his heart. He's a very capable and hard-working person though easily irritated. He's slow to trust others and doesn't give people the benefit of the doubt, instinctively looking out for himself and those he cares about above all. He tries to deal with any threat, real or perceived right away and ruthlessly if required. To unwind, he picks on others, which makes him a slightly horrible person. He tends to be envious of other people, especially their powers since he tends to think his are just about useless. On the positive side, he has a thing for ducks and has ducky pajamas because he finds them cute.
History: Originally, Phillip's family came from Wagga Wagga, Australia though they moved soon after he was born. Eventually they moved to Orlando, Florida where Phillip grew up. His parents had been outspoken mutant detractors and for a while, Phillip was too, going to protests and rallies with them. He never really questioned it until he found out that he was a mutant. His mother immediately began trying to find a way to cure him until the secret got out when his father was helping someone's political anti-mutant campaign for Congress and his father lost his political clout and damaged the reputation of the one running. Phillip was almost lynched and was forced to run. He lived in a few different places, including New Orleans, Salt Lake City and finally Venice Beach in California where he was recruited by the X-Men, though not without some initial misgivings. From the on, he's been a bit mistrusting of others.
Facts/Extras:
Phillip speaks with a slight Australian accent. And he'll lose it if someone says "G'day mate", "Down under" or "Shrimp on the barbie" to him.
He knows kickboxing and judo, mostly to offset his lack of offense capability.
He's gained the nickname Cinderella. And he'll probably hurt you if you call him that to his face.
Phillip teaches math. Calling it teaching might be a little strong. It's more along the lines of teaching it with a "We'll suffer it together" attitude every class.
